Writers' Conference Scholarships

Through the generous support of our sponsors, the Fernie Writers’ Conference Society offers scholarships for each conference session.

Scholarship Applications Accepted Until June 30th, 2012 Scholarships range in value based on availability, merit and need as evaluated by the judges. This can include full scholarship as well as partial scholarship in all categories including 5-day, 3-day and youth workshops.

Scholarship Round 1 - Deadline June 30th, 2012

A total of 20 scholarships are available in the first round:

  • 5 day workshop $200 value
  • 3 day workshop $120 value

    Scholarship Round 1 Application Process: All conference participants who have registered and paid in full prior to the June 30, 2012 deadline are eligible for the Round 1 scholarship which will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. To qualify simply indicate on the registration form that you are requesting a Round 1 scholarship.

    Scholarship Round 2 - Deadline July 6th, 2012

    Round 2 Scholarships range from $150 - $650 based on availability, merit and need as evaluated by the judges.

    Scholarship Round 2 Application Process: To apply for a scholarship please include the following:

    1. A one page cover letter including:

    • The session for which you wish to be considered.
    • A summary of your writing history and/or experience.
    • An explanation of your need for scholarship.

    2. A sample of your writing in the genre of the session for which you are applying. Include all relevant contact information in your application—mailing address, phone number, email address. Please email your application to info@ferniewriters.com by the required deadline date.

    • Scholarship winners will be notified by email or phone.
    • The decision of the judges will be final.
    Scholarship applications are now being accepted by email at info@ferniewriters.com in the above format as long as funds are available. Note: Recipients of Round 1 scholarships are still eligible to apply for Round 2 scholarships.
